Penske Entertainment has taken over promotions for the NTT IndyCar Series season finale at Nashville Speedway.
The change comes after Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Music City GP promotion team hosted the 2021-23 Nashville Grand Prix street race and saved the event from loss in 2024 when local construction of the new Tennessee Titans NFL stadium put the race out of reach. city center location. Borchetta entered into a multi-year agreement with Speedway Motorsports Inc., owners of the previously disadvantaged Nashville Superspeedway, to stage the reclaimed farewell to the season.
Praised for putting on a remarkable event at considerable cost in a venue that fell out of favor with IndyCar in the 2000s, Borchetta included a kickoff party Friday in downtown Nashville, and added artists majors from his company Big Machine Records to perform at the 1.33-mile oval and spent freely on promotions to boost ticket sales.
Big Machine’s investment resulted in one of the best oval races of the season, but Penske Entertainment stepped in and will host the event. Borchetta will remain involved as an event sponsor and will host another kickoff event in downtown Nashville for the Aug. 30-31 race, which will take place 30 minutes east of Lebanon, Tennessee.
The unexpected change comes as Roger Penske’s company gains more control over IndyCar’s 17 events. Penske Entertainment is responsible for hosting the Long Beach Grand Prix, the Indianapolis Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, the Detroit Grand Prix, the Iowa Speedway doubleheader, Milwaukee and Nashville, is centrally involved in the upcoming Arlington Grand Prix for 2026 and is active in the formation of a long-awaited street race in Denver, tentatively scheduled for 2027.
Penske Entertainment had no official comment when contacted, but RACER understands that an official series update on this matter is forthcoming.
