In February, five Penn State teams attended the college of Turf Bowl from the college of Golf Superintendents, sponsored by John Deere, San Diego, California. The winning team – DAUB, HUEDEPOHL, LOFLAND and MCGOWAN – received a traveling trophy and a cash price of $ 4,000.
Ben McGraw, an associate professor of lawn in lawn, was an university counselor of the team. During his 11 years at university, McGraw said that Penn State teams won 15 titles combined during the two competitions. He noted that this success testifies to the quality of the students that Penn State attracts, as well as the rigor and the quality of education.
“I am incredibly proud of all the students who compete,” said McGraw. “It comes with hard work and a sacrifice on their side. They spend more time in class and abandon hours during the week to study everything related to lawn. This effort does not go unnoticed. I’m lucky and I am easy to show them the right direction and encouragement. »»
