Corvalis, ore. – Kirk Walker – The most victorious head coach in the history of the program and a women’s team from Oregon State – was appointed to the LGBTQ sport renowned temple, presented by La Sports Equality Foundation.
Walker has led the Beavers softball program for 18 years, which saw a PAC-10 title, 10 trips (including nine consecutive) at the NCAA tournament, a super regional and the Women’s College World Series 2006. The double coach of the Year of the PAC-10 amassed a record of 594-491-3 during his stay in Corvalis.
Six teams (1999, 2000, 2004-07) under the direction of Walker won at least 40 games, which included a sequence of victories of 28 matches in a 2006 school record on the way to Oklahoma City.
Brianne McGowan and Cambria Miranda won the American honors under the direction of Walker.
During his stay in Corvalis, Walker was one of the 12 coaches who trained national coaches of the national national team of the United States in the 2004 Olympic Games swimming pool in Athens, Greece. He was deputy coach of the United States elite team in the 2002-2004 summers when he was assistant to the United States national team during various events in the summer of 2001 .
The LGBTQ Sports Hall of Fame honors athletes, coaches, executives and defenders who have had a lasting impact on the world of sport by leadership, visibility and commitment to inclusion. Walker will be officially inducted on August 10, 2025 in Las Vegas.
