Q: I obtained my Covid-19 shot in October, as I did for three years. With all the uncertainty concerning the next cocovid vaccine (2025-2026), should I get a reminder of the current vaccine 2024-2025? I am not immunized, but I am prudent because I am in immune individuals and we seem to have a vague cocodid each summer. – Chelsea, Portland
A: Chelsea, if you are 65 years old or older, centers for disease control and prevention (CDC) recommends you receive an additional dose (Booster) of the COVVI-19 vaccine of 2024-2025 as long as it has been at least two months since the reception of your first dose. The same recommendation applies to those with a compromised immune system.
If you are not 65 years and more or more compromise immunity but you work or spend a lot of time with people who are, your instinct to protect them (by strengthening your own immune system) is good. You may be able to get another dose of your doctor – or a prescription for a pharmacist to give you another dose; But be aware that it may not be covered by your insurance because it is not specifically recommended by CDC. We also warn that the COVVI-19 vaccine is not so good for preventing transmission to others because it protects people vaccinated against serious illnesses and hospitalization.
Regarding the next COVVI-19 vaccine (2025-2026), we expect an update formula for publication in the fall while we are heading to the respiratory virus season, but we will have to wait for details on specific CDC recommendations.
Q: Are there any subsidies available for the attenuation of the radon? – Clare, the slabs
A: Yes, there are public grant funds available to mitigate the radon, but they are granted to organizations, and not to individual owners or tenants. People should contact one of the organizations and ask if they could use the funds to mitigate the radon in their house. See a list of organizations that currently receive this funding here.
This funding is made possible by OHA Healthy house subsidies programwhich was created in 2021 by the Oregon Legislative Assembly to improve housing conditions for low -income and environmental justice communities by granting subsidies to organizations which in turn provide services (such as the attenuation of the radon) to these communities. Organizations can use dollars of subsidies for various purposes, including energy efficiency, extension of the life, structure or safety of a house, as well as improving the health and safety of occupants of a house via the attenuation of radon, lead and mold / mold, the abolition of asthma triggers, etc. Oha cannot dictate organizations which receive grant funds or which will offer to whom.
