The county of Onondaga revealed project plans for the semiconductor company which moves into the old manufacturing installation of Nexgen in Dewitt.
The ONSEMI company has acquired the installation and, according to a press release from the office of the director of the county of Onondaga, Ryan McMahon, will make an investment of nearly $ 120 million while creating 80 new jobs related to semiconductors.
McMahon said that the OnSemi project will have two phases – research and development, OneMi taking control of the Dewitt installation and equipment; and manufacturing, in which OnSemi will renovate installation for its own technology.
“The investment and the massive jobs offered by onsemi serve additional validation that the county of Onondaga and the center of New York have become the center of companies that seek to develop and develop in the semiconductor space,” said McMahon in the press release.
McMahon said that OSEMI planned to ask the UNONDAGA county industrial development agency “to approve the relevant benefits for the project”.
