Former President Joe Biden received a prostate cancer diagnosis last week, his office said on Sunday.
The news came after it was revealed that a “small nodule” was detected during a “routine physical exam,” said a spokesperson for the former president in ABC News on May 13.
His diagnosis of prostate cancer is “characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (group 5 of grade 5) with bone metastases,” said his office on Sunday. “Although this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, cancer seems to be sensitive to hormones that allows effective management.”
While Biden and his family examine the processing options, former president Barack Obama, President Donald Trump and other political leaders began to reach out to share the support of the former United States chief.
