Nova Scotia Firefighters have held 50/50 draws throughout the year to raise funds for the province’s volunteer fire departments.
The drawing takes place every December, with a chance to win one million dollars.
A Sydney man won $1.3 million in the mega draw last week.

“Like a lot of winners, he thought someone was trying to play a joke on them or pull a prank on them,” said Andrew Wallis of the Amherst Firefighters’ Association.
“So it took a little while for it to take effect.”
The money raised is used for first aid training and the purchase of new equipment.
“Through Facebook, we’re able to share with everyone where that money is actually going, whether it’s equipment, trucks, boats, pipes, helmets, whatever,” Wallis said .
“So people see firsthand where this money is going.”
Next comes the Christmas draw, which ends on Boxing Day at 9 p.m.
