“ Not be a loser ”: the NCAA launches the video anti-harassment of sports betting

The NCAA has launched a new video to broadcast throughout the shows of the male and female March Madness tournament, as well as in line, as part of the Line campaign. The new spot, entitled “Do not be a loser”, draws attention to the alarming prevalence of the abuse and harassment of actors in the face of angry fans who have lost a bet.

The new addition to the Draw the Line campaign is one of the many efforts in progress at the NCAA to respond to the rise of sports betting.

The new video was revealed during the first week of the male and female basketball championships in division I-the largest Paris event in the United States. It is estimated that $ 3.1 banking will be legally bet on this year’s basketball tournaments, double the amount bet on the Super Bowl, according to a Recent report of the American Gaming Association.

The NCAA continues its work with meaning to monitor harassment intended for students-athletes, coaches and officials participating in the NCAA championships, including male and female basketball tournaments.

Last year’s study revealed 1 out of 3 students received abusive messages of those who have an interest in Paris; 80% of abuses Addressed to student male and female student at March Madness, with female basketball students receiving about three times more threats than male basketball students.

“The horrible messages we see on online platforms are absolutely unacceptable,” said NCAA president Charlie Baker. “Angry fans send many abusive messages and threats to student-athletes, publicly and in private, due to the lost bets put on the performance of the athlete in a game. These actions severely threaten mental health and the well-being of students.
