Finland telecommunications giant Nokia announced on Monday that he had reached a settlement with Amazon for alleged offenses in terms of patents related to video technologies. Nokia confirmed that he had signed a patent agreement with Amazon, which covers the use of Nokia’s video technologies in Amazon’s streaming services and devices.
The agreement solves all the disputes underway between the two companies, but the details of the regulation will remain confidential, according to the AFP news agency.
Nokia initially brought prosecution against Amazon in October 2023, accusing the company of raping its patents in five world jurisdictions: the United Kingdom, the European Union’s patent court, Germany, India and the United States.
The affirmations were linked to the main video service of Amazon and other devices, specifically involving patents for “video compression, content delivery, content recommendation and aspects related to equipment”.
In addition to Amazon, Nokia had also filed a complaint against HP (formerly Hewlett-Packard) in an American court in October 2023, alleging that the company used Nokia video technology without authorization. This trial was settled in October 2024.
