  • The public discussion of tax incentives for a Cinergy entertainment center project in Corpus Christi was delayed.
  • The entertainment center offered would include cinema screens, a bowling alley and an arcade.

Public discussions on tax incentives that could support a potential family entertainment center In Corpus Christi, were postponed.

A preliminary version of the municipal council agenda published last week included an element of discussion and potential action on April 15 on the tax incentives offered for the construction of a place of entertainment Cinergy on the South.

The company is known for the development of entertainment centers with cinema screens, alleys and arcades, according to a service note published online.

The article, however, was not included in the finalized agenda of the council.

The developer involved in the project “wanted a few more weeks before advancing it,” wrote City Director Peter Zanoni in a calling-time message.

The original version of the agenda showed Cinergy Entertainment as considering the development of a 90,000 square feet center on a plot of land off Rodd Field Road and South Padre Island Drive.

An proposed economic development agreement described in the city’s documents would provide up to $ 4 million in land tax and sales tax within 15 years, if the center materializes.

In a statement sent by email to the appellant-time on April 10, the president of Cinergy and financial director Rich Schwarte wrote that the company was “in the first stages of the evaluation of opportunities in Corpus Christi”, but no plan had been finalized.

“As a business, we are constantly under discussion with government agencies across the country when we explore potential opportunities for future growth,” he wrote.
