A man who fatally stabbed a Surrey teenager outside his high school two years ago will not spend an additional time behind bars.
The offender, whose identity is covered by a publication ban because he was a minor at the time of the murder, pleaded guilty of manslaughter guilty Mehakpreet Sethi Outside the Tamanawis Secondary School.
He was initially accused of second degree murder but pleaded guilty at the slightest accusation.
In January, he received a sentence of two years less per day of community surveillance, after a credit for 12 days in prior prison. He also received a 10 -year -old firearm ban.
During a condemnation hearing last month, the court learned that the offender was a school student at the time, while Sethi was not.
Sethi’s girlfriend had told him that the offender had disrespected him, and Sethi and several other people went to school to face him, the court learned.

The offender approached Sethi with a group of six to 10 other boys, leading to an altercation which became physical when one of them pushed Sethi.
During the confrontation, Sethi pushed or caught the accused, who responded by stabbing him once in the chest before leaving in his vehicle and leaving Sethi lying on the ground, the court learned.
Sethi died in the hospital with a stab in an artery that fed his heart.
The police later found Sethi’s blood on the delinquent clothes and a knife. The court also learned how the offender had sent a snapchat message to a friend reading: “Bro, I just explained the child in the parking lot. You’re going to have to meet me later or SMT, Bro. I have to hide.
The offender told a psychiatrist that the incident was self -defense and that he did not intend to kill Sehti.
The prosecutors admitted that there was an element of panic in the actions of the offender and that Sethi, which was greater, approached him in a threatening manner with several other people.
