World Rugby announced a long -term broadcasting agreement with nine entertainment to create the exclusive house of world rugby competitions for fans in Australia until 2029.
Thanks to the multi -year agreement, the 9network, Stan Sport and 9now will present the world’s largest rugby competitions, including male and female rugby cups, WXV Global Series, HSBC SVNS, the World Rugby U20 Championship and Pacific Nations CUP. The partnership marks a transformer moment for sport in Australia, creating a complete rugby destination for fans of the country.
Starting with the 2025 women’s rugby world cup in England (August 22 – September 27), all matches of the Wallaroos and Wallabies World Cup will be presented live and free on the 9network and 9now, ensuring that all the Australians have a first row seat to encourage their national teams. The final of this already historic edition will also be available free, increasing the profile of the female game more before the tournament went to Australia in 2029.
The 2027 male rugby world cup, the third edition to be organized in Australia after 1987 (co-organized with New-Zealand) and 2003, is expected to accommodate a new rugby era with an extended format of 24 teams, six swimming pools and 52 games. To ensure a national sports celebration, half of the devices will be presented live and free on nine and 9 years, including all Wallabia matches, the two semi-finals and the highly anticipated RWC final in Sydney on November 13, 2027.
