NFL Injury Tracker Week 17: Jalen injured vs. Cowboys, Josh Allen unaffected by broken hand, Christian Watson questionable

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a concussion.

The injuries happened concussion protocol since his head hit the grass in Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders. Head coach Nick Sirianni said Friday it was “going to be tough for him to get there” after the quarterback didn’t practice this week.

Backup Kenny Pickett, who replaced Hurts for the remainder of the Commanders game, will start in Hurts’ place.

Sunday’s match is a important for the 12-3 Eagles as they could clinch the NFC East with a win or a draw. Pickett’s teammates are confident he can help them deliver on their promises.

“You never know, it’s the nature of the game,” running back Saquon Barkley said. “When your opportunity comes, you have to be ready to take it. If it’s this week, he has a great opportunity and 10 guys around him who believe in him and know he can help him win this game football.”

The last time a quarterback other than Hurts started for the Eagles? Week 16 of the 2022 NFL season when Injuries have been excluded with a shoulder injury and Gardner Minshew took his place against the Cowboys.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback confirmed Thursday that he has been dealing with a non-throwing hand injury all season. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported this week that Allen suffered a broken left hand in the fourth quarter of the Bills’ Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Allen broke the bone after diving into the end zone for a six-yard touchdown.

“Yeah. Yeah, it’s the one on the left, so it doesn’t really matter.” Allen said during Thursday’s press briefing before quickly moving on to other questions.

While dealing with an injured left hand, Allen told CBS Sports after last week’s win over the New England Patriots that he has “no feeling.” his right hand after being hit in the right elbow by a helmet.

“I have a helmet all the way,” Allen told Evan Washburn. “I went to throw the next one and I had no feeling in my hand. I came out a little wobbly.”

Allen was a full participant in practice this week.

For 16 weeks, Allen is a serious contender for NFL MVP and threw for 3,549 yards, 26 touchdowns and six interceptions. On the ground, he had 514 yards with 11 rushing touchdowns.

After sustaining a bone bruise during Monday night victory against the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson has yet to practice this week.

After a Saints player fell on him, there were concerns about Watson’s knee, but Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed earlier this week that there was no structural damage and that it was only a bone bruise.

On Thursday, LaFleur told reporters that even if Watson doesn’t practice this week, that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t play Sunday against the Vikings.

“If he feels ready on Sunday, then I will let him go. If he doesn’t, we won’t let him go,” LaFleur said.

Watson is currently listed as questionable.

Indianapolis (7-8) hopes to keep its faint playoff hopes alive without Anthony Richardson, who will miss Sunday’s game with back and foot injuries. Joe Flacco will start Sunday for the New York Giants.

Richardson’s injury shouldn’t sideline him for the regular season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a ESPN Report.

This will be the third game Richardson has missed due to injury this season.
