Uva Health University Medical Center was appointed to the inaugural list of Newsweek of the 200 best clinics and weight loss centers in America.

Nowsweek In partnership with the Statista data collection company to name the best clinics and weight loss centers in the United States, “recognizing 200 facilities across the country that helped people achieve healthy and sustainable weight loss,” said news publication. The list is based on criteria that include:
- A national survey of care professionals with knowledge of weight loss programs.
- Accreditation by the accreditation and improvement program of the quality of metabolic and bariatric surgery, which Uva Health has won.
“I am honored to work alongside a team of colleagues dedicated to finding the best approach for each of our patients to help them live a healthier life,” said Peter Hallowell, MD, director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at UVA Health. “I’m so proud to see this team recognized by Newsweek.”
UVA Health’s full program includes access to weight loss drugs, full weight loss surgery, nutritional, exercise support and mental health support. The UVA team includes:
- Obesity medicine certified at the Council
- Doctors specially trained in metabolic disorders
- Certified board of directors
- Dietitians
- Certified authorized nurses
- Behavior health specialists
