The FBI in New Orleans says the man behind the deadly truck attack on Bourbon Street traveled to Ontario in July 2023.
Special Agent Lyonel Myrthil says investigation now ‘crosses national and international borders’ as law enforcement piece together Shamshud-Din Jabbar’s movements in the run-up to New Year’s Eve truck attack which killed 14 people.
Myrthil says Jabbar was in Cairo, Egypt, for about two weeks in late June and early July 2023, and flew to Ontario on July 10 before returning to the United States three days later.
He says officers are trying to determine where he went on his trip and who he may have met during his trip, and whether his trip has any connection to the deadly attack in the popular New York tourist destination. Orleans.
The office says Jabbar traveled to the city in October and November for unknown reasons and visited “several gun stores” in Texas before traveling to Louisiana on New Year’s Eve.
