Las Vegas (KSNV) – Nevada Science Bowl returned on Saturday, marking its 34th year of celebration of excellence of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students.

The competition featured 118 students from 20 regional secondary schools, all in the running for the first prize of $ 5,000 and a chance to go to the National Science Bowl department in Washington, DC, scheduled for April 24 to 28.

The event started at 7:30 am at the North Las Vegas campus of Southern Nevada.

Betty Huck is the director of the Nevada field office for the National Nuclear Security Administration.

She says: “The Bowl of Sciences sponsored by the energy of the Ministry of Energy is the place where we get our best and most brilliant students to come to compete against each other. As an engineer, Stem helps solve problems, create critical thinking and future leaders. ”

Students participated in a quick question and answer format on 12 laps, with the announcement of the Grand Prix for later in the afternoon.

The 12 best teams received cash prizes for mathematics and school science departments.

Each year, more than 15,000 national students are competing for the possibility of representing their schools in the National Science Bowl of the American Department of Energy, recognized as the most important and prestigious scientific competition in the country.

The Nevada Science Bowl 2025 is sponsored by the field office of the American Department of Energy of the Energy Department, the National Security Administration Department, Mission Support and Test Services LLC and environmental management program services environmental of Nevada.
