By the President of the United States of America
A proclamation
Small businesses feed our economy from zero, stimulating innovation and construction of products that keep strong, competitive and secure America. During the National Small Business Week, we celebrate the inflexible spirit, the creativity and perseverance of our workers who dare to dream of big.
Small businesses are vital for our economy. America has 33 million small businesses that employ 61.7 million Americans – almost half of the private sector’s workforce – and create nearly two out of three jobs in the country.
In recent years, owners of small businesses have been faced with unprecedented challenges – record high inflation, reckless federal expenses and heavy regulations – but have remained determined to provide American communities.
Small businesses across the country have also worn the burden of a broken world trade system for too long. Originally designed after the Second World War to support the recovery in countries torn by the war, it is now exploited by foreign competitors. They flood our cheap products markets while eliminating quality American products.
Too many people in our government were afraid of attacking this problem. Now, finally, my administration is repairing it. On the day of the Liberation, we have implemented targeted prices to protect American companies from unfair commercial practices and to strengthen local supply chains. We put the Americans first and say a relief long expected for our workers and entrepreneurs.
My administration unleashes a new era of opportunities for small businesses based on common sense and pro-growth policies that first put our workers and our job creators. We reduce administrative formalities, keep low taxes, promote fair and reciprocal business practices and fight for workers.
The Made in America manufacturing initiative creates well -remunerated jobs and ensure our supply chains, while reducing $ 100 billion in regulations that disproportionately hang small businesses and manufacturers. Without paralyzing compliance and regulatory obstacles, we allow our companies to focus on what they do best: business.
Entrepreneurship is the foundation of a free and prosperous nation and the engine of the American economy – built by men and women who work hard, take risks and believe in the power of the American dream. From our areas to our factories at the borders of technology, our small businesses embody the American spirit, stimulating growth and creating new job opportunities. Our story of ingenuity and grain is unrivaled, and by renewing our support for small businesses, we increase wages, strengthening American families and lead our country and the world to a new golden age.
Now, therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, under the authority left by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, proclaims by this on May 4 to May 10, 2025 as National Small Business Week. I call on all Americans to recognize the critical contributions of American entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses as they increase the economy of our country.
As a testimony of what, I put my hand this fifth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
Donald J. Trump
