The Whaler girls’ butt team suffered a frustrating defeat Thursday against Cape Cod Academy and after the match, head coach Jami Lower said she was delighted that his players still have an opportunity to win a match before the start of the school holidays on April 21st. On Friday, they went to Nauset to play the Warriors and won 11-8 in another tight match.
Dylan Damian paved the way in Nantucket in the notations department with three goals and added a decisive pass. Louisa Beni, Claire Genthner and Mayson each lowered two goals – with more decline in assists. Grace Hanlon scored a goal and Mia Beaudette scored a goal while totaling two assists.
The whalers have been forced to navigate a cloudy calendar with so much postponement due to bad weather and cancellations of boats, but are always found with a 3-1 file throughout the month of the season while lining up a fairly young and inexperienced range.
Due to reports, whalers will be very busy once their regular season will resume on Monday, April 28th At home against the Dolphins of Dennis -Yarmouth at 4 p.m., they will play 13 games in 26 days to finish the season – including six games in the first 10 days after school from April 28th until May 8th.

The Baseball team welcomed Monomoy Sharks on Friday afternoon for a league match and although they lost 9-3, it was a match that could easily have swing in favor of Nantucket.
“We are really satisfied. We fought,” said head coach Jack Pearson about Friday’s match. “Keegan (Bedell) did not necessarily have his best things but he launched well with runners on the basis. We defended well. Henry (Tejada) on the third base was busy and he was playing games. Eli (Maciver) took a good game. No surprise there. This kid (on Monomoy) is a launcher. He came here the last two years. Programming, we make adjustments and we hit the hard ball.

With Monomoy Up 3-0 entering the lower half of the fifth round, Nantucket joined forces for three points to equalize the match 3-3 thanks to a timely strike by Alex Horton (triple of two rounds) and to Justin Torres, who led Horton to the house to equalize the game with a double RBI.
“He struck this right on the nail and I don’t think he knew how hard he struck,” Pearson said about Triple de Horton. “It was his reading to take the triple. The game was in front of him, he went to do it, I am happy that he did it, safe in the third place, and it was a big shock for the bench, to the momentum.”
At the Crédit de Monomoy, they took advantage of a rare Nantucket error in the field at the top of the sixth round when a soft group was hit with two withdrawals. This led to a certain indecision of a Whaler championship player as to whether they should withdraw the force at the start, which would have been a Bang-Bang game, or that the tag on the runner heads towards the third which would have been released a few meters. In the end, the two runners were tried safe and the round was extended after Nantucket failed to label the shark runner taken in an overview between the second and the third base. The Sharks made a tear with strong marble cuts – marking six points in the round to win the victory.
“I do not hate this launch in third row,” said Pearson about the play that could have prevented a sixth round of six points. “The game is in front of you. You made it dead at the rights. We simply did not execute the dilapidation. We were able to pass it up to the second base instead of shortening it. But what are you going to do? We know that we are going to beat this team next time. We have this belief now. We can hang out with them. It was their best launcher.”

Pearson added that he liked some of the Battes of the Juniors Andrew Lavin and Henry Tejada, as well as the second year student Eli Maciver. Nantucket also played a double head on Saturday April 19 on the road against Westport High School. The first match took place at 11:30 am and the Whalers lost 13-3. In the second match, which started at 1:30 p.m., Nantucket lost 14-13.
The whalers now have 3-5 after losing three games in two days, but will have a little time to come together during the week of school holidays before restarting their regular season on Saturday, April 26th At home against the O’Bryant high school with a double-head. The first match is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the second match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., you can See more photos of the Friday match against Monomoy here.
