The boys’ buttock team improved 2-0 this season after an 11-4 victory against the Martha vineyard on Saturday afternoon during the Nantucket home opening. Head coach Sam Aloisi said that his team had made sloppy and unusual errors in the first half, but said his team had responded with a strong game in the third and fourth quarters when they preceded the 8-2 vineyard.
“In the first half, our attack was doing nothing out of ball,” said Aloisi. “Arann (Hanlon) had the ball and everyone looked at him to do everything, and there is not much that you can do when no one moves. It was the off-ball stuff in the first half that led us not to do so well, and we were really sloppy.

“It’s an experience,” added Aloisi. “Many of these children are juniors who did not have much time last year. It will come. The vineyard had athletes, and they played a fairly good pace. They pressed very far on the defense we knew they were going to make, but I always think that it allowed us to have affected us. necessary.
Hanlon scored the first goal of the match and added three assists, but the scoring of the Saturday competition came from new faces. Senior striker Miles Beaudette continued to make his mark as a key element in Nantucket’s attack with three goals. Second -year midfielder Andrick Mooney also scored three goals, and Aloisi said that a movement in advance to attack may be permanent.

Aloisi said that in spite of 2-0, his team will have to clean a lot in the future as competition becomes more difficult. They will welcome the Clippers of Falmouth on Tuesday on the island, one of the best DIV teams. 3 and the last team to beat the Nantucket boys’ butt program (13-6 road losses on April 9th2024). Since this defeat, Nantucket has won 21 games.
“If we play as if we were playing (against the vineyard) without all the mistakes, all the little physical errors that we have made, I think we are going to do against Falmoth,” said Aloisi. “But if we play like that, you cannot make these mistakes against a good team. They will catch up quickly.”
The match against Falmouth on Tuesday April 8th will be at 4 p.m. you can See more photos of the Saturday game here.
The return of softball falls just short of home report

Friday, the Softball team played their first home game of the season against the Nauset Warriors and lost 9-6. The girls fought until the very end and almost joined the last round with a seventh of four points which forced Nauset to make a change of pitch.
“We had a good rally. We just need to get it through the first round,” said Nantucket head coach Grace-Annish. “We look very defensively and we make improvements in each match. But entering the start and hitting is what we really fight and what we have to do in our next games.”

The whalers had a timely defense and pitching which allowed them to stay at the time of strike, but had trouble putting many balls into play until the seventh round. The basic base, as it was in Barnstable last week, was strong and helped them score a round during the first and a third round on the past balls.
The double of Sophia Yelverton in the seventh started things, followed by a double of Seren Cristler who brought Yelverton through marble and three consecutive walks issued by the Warriors.
Despite the seizure of the week 0-3, there are things on which the whalers can rely when they are trying to win their next match. They welcome the Clippers of Falmouth on Monday, April 7th At 4 p.m., the match outside Saturday against Martha’s Vineyard was postponed due to the weather.
