Baltimore, md. (February 5, 2025) – At the beginning of February, we are delighted to celebrate the 39th national annual day of girls and women in sport (NGWSD) on February 5, 2025. This annual celebration recognizes the incredible achievements of female athletes and highlights the importance of sports participation For women and girls.
National Girls & Women In Sports Day is an opportunity to highlight the progress made for gender equality in sports while recognizing the work still necessary to ensure that each woman and girl has equal access to the advantages of sports participation.
From the promotion of leadership and confidence in the promotion of physical and mental well-being, sports play a vital role in the training of strong and authorized individuals. This day not only honors pioneer women who paved the way, but also inspires the next generation to continue their dreams and break the barriers.
In Morgan State, we are incredibly proud to support and empower female athletes through our entirely female sports teams. These teams represent a diversified group of more than 100 talented women who not only excellent in their respective sports, but also serve as models and leaders on and off the field.
Their hard work, their dedication and their commitment to excellence testify to the power of women in sport. Thanks to these teams, we create an environment where female athletes can prosper, develop their skills and build lasting links with each other. We celebrate their achievements and the positive impact they have on the community of the state of Morgan and beyond.
A’lycia Moore, a junior of the acrobatics and tumbling team, found that sports are not only an activity but a fundamental force that has shaped that it is today. Since his first years in his time at university, sports have been a constant source of growth, teaching his precious lessons in coherence, discipline, perspective and dedication.
“Sports have been a fundamental part of my life, shaped who I am both on the carpet,” said Moore. “From childhood to my collegial years, sports taught me invaluable lessons in coherence, discipline, perspective and dedication. This instilled in me the state of mind to appear every day, from take up challenges and transform passion into a goal. “
“Over the years, I have learned that success is not a question of personal success – it is the impact of others by directing with authenticity, giving your best and improving those who surround you, “added Moore. “Win or lose, you never really lose, you always win a lesson! Sports have taught me that you have only one name! The inheritance you create, fixes for those who follow. is the essence of which I am today – a woman motivated by a goal focused by making a difference.
Trinity Carruthers, a senior volleyball sector in Grande Prairie, Texas, was deeply shaped by volleyball sport, which has been a constant presence in his life since childhood at university.
“Sports, especially volleyball, deeply shaped my childhood life at university,” said Carruthers. “From 10 years old, sport has become the cornerstone of my development, teaching me the resilience, leadership and the importance of teamwork.”
“Thanks to the high victory and injury highs, such as my shoulder surgery in 2023, volleyball pushed me to overcome the challenges and to grow physically and mentally,” added Carruthers. “It instilled me a sense of responsibility, perseverance and the ability to direct a goal – qualities that extend far beyond the courtyard. While I close this chapter, I wear invaluable lessons with me that will guide me in all aspects of life. “”
While we celebrate the National Day of Girls and Women, we honor not only the incredible achievements of female athletes, but also the current trip to equality of sports. In Morgan State, we remain determined to support female athletes, promoting an environment where they can prosper and inspire future generations.
