An outgoing state deputy caused a scene in the Parliament of Western Australia after having ended his promotion speech with a path – the act of having a festive drink, generally alcohol, a shoe.
Kyle McGinn put an end to his farewell address by opening a beer and drinking it with his removed shoe, which he says that he became known to do by his voters.
McGinn told local media that he had done to show that there were normal people in Parliament and to celebrate in his own way.
