MISD adds Hosa opportunities for students in health sciences

Last fall, Midland ISD students involved in double -credit health sciences had the opportunity to participate in health students in America, or Hosa. Midland Last fall, Midland ISD students involved in double -credit health sciences had the opportunity to participate in health students in America, or Hosa. This organization promotes science education, leadership and career preparation in health care.

The Hosa section of MISD includes 58 students from Midland High School, Legacy High School, Midland Freshman High School and Legacy Freshman High School. Among other opportunities, Hosa also organizes domain and state competitions so that students test their knowledge and skills against their peers.

MISD attended his first region competition this month and made impressive debut, a student even advancing the state competition. The MFHS student, Rebekah Ramos ’28 won the best honors in the personal care competition and will participate in the state later this spring.

Among the other students who place, included David Odumbo ’28 (LFHS) in physiotherapy and my May ’27 (LHS), which has won a place as a state alternative in extemporaneous writing. Students also participated in the category of medical art posters.

“I am incredibly proud of these students and the way they represented Miss in our very first Hosa competition,” said Heather Escobedo Health Coordinator. “They showed dedication, professionalism and integrity. We can’t wait to encourage Rebekah to State! ”

The Hosa State competition will take place in Round Rock, where the best students of the whole state will compete for various events related to health care.
