Representative Elise Stefanik, RN.Y., seemed to accuse the president Mike JohnsonR-La., Lying to discuss the race of the Governor of New York with her on Tuesday.
Johnson said he had “conversations” with Stefanik and his New York colleague, representative Mike Lawler, RN.Y., when he was asked if he had discussed the next governors with the two potential candidates.
Stefanik cited a Punchbowl News Report on Johnson’s comments at the public press conference and wrote on X: “This is not true. I had no conversation with the speaker concerning the governor’s breed.”
“Pending the conversation on (state and local taxes) with the members of NY tomorrow. Stay listening,” wrote Stefanik.

Fox News Digital contacted Stefanik for additional comments but has not heard at the time of the press.
When he was contacted to comment, a Johnson spokesman referred Fox News Digital to the comments of Johnson to journalists after his press conference.
“I just talked to him. Elise is one of my closest friends. We have not specifically talked about her race for governor, but all these other things,” said Johnson. “She comes to visit me, and everything is fine.”
The exchange reported an astonishing public confrontation between two members of the GOP management which occurs shortly after Stefanik returned to its full -time role.

She had been ready to easily navigate the Senate confirmation process to become president Donald Trump New ambassador to the United Nations.

When he was asked to talk to her and Lawler to run potentially, Johnson told journalists on Tuesday: “I have a lot of conversations”.

“I love them both. They are two of my favorite people and the most reliable colleagues. And, and they are both super talented, that’s why we are talking about doing other things … I mean, my preference is that they all stay here with me, well,” said Johnson.
“But I do not regret anyone to have other opportunities. And we ultimately support them in everything they do. But, do we have conversations? We are. Yeah. And that’s all I will say about it.”
