ATLANTA – Some Midtown business owners say they are having trouble since a nearby construction project.

The 1072 West Peachtree project, located at the corner of the 12th and W. Peachtree St. NW, led to intermittent street closings.

Some business owners say that pedestrian traffic and vehicle circulation have decreased considerably since the start of construction.

Tajuansar Diallo, owner of Soak and Polish, says that the construction had an impact not only the atmosphere of its show but also its results.

“To have staff that you cannot pay – it hurts. And I have never had this problem since the seven years I am here,” said Diallo.

Erica Williams, owner of Boozie Smoothies, echoes similar feelings on Sunday afternoon.

“If it was not for Doordash or Uber eats, we were not even surviving at the moment,” said Williams.

Residents who live along the street, like James Turner, say that the decrease in pedestrian traffic has been positive for them.

“No one is coming at all here anymore, so I like it. Especially these companies here – they probably do not receive any traffic. But I live here, I don’t mind at all,” said Turner.

The construction project, which is developed by the Rockefeller group and built by Turner Construction, should be completed by spring 2026, according to the Rockefeller group website.

Turner Construction Company shared the following declaration in response to construction problems:

“We believe that the way we build is just as important as what we build. We deeply care about the communities in which we work and want our neighbors to be safe and successful. On this project, a business owner approached us to share significant support, including assistance to his business and connect it with commercial development resources.

We maintain regular communication with the surrounding real estate management teams and continue to take measures proactively to minimize the disturbances related to construction. It was the only company that made us concerns.

Turner is proudly part of the Atlanta community for over 50 years, and we are deeply determined to maintain a lasting presence here for future generations – to awaken, support and work together to strengthen the communities that we help to build. »»

Trendy stories:

Radco, the real estate company which has the building where Boozie smoothies and the soaking and the Polish rental space echoes similar feelings:

“The construction company was very communicative on potential disturbances, which we transmit to our residential and commercial tenants. Construction is not fun for anyone, but that is part of life and work in the city. Once the project is completed, there will be even more potential customers for our activities as commercial tenants. ”

Informed Diallo Brittany Kleinpeter of Channel 2 Sunday evening, it will close its doors by the end of the month and move to another area. You can Find more information on how to support it here.
