Michael StorperUCLA distinguished professor of regional and international development in town planning and director of Global public affairs At the UCLA Luskin, was appointed winner of the Regional Science Prize for the 2025 European Regional Science Association. Storper, also a professor of economic geography at London Economy Schoolwas chosen by an international panel independent of scientists for its exceptional contributions to the advancement of regional science. He joined a distinguished group of winner the prize for the first time in 2003. The author of more than 100 university articles and 13 books is a member of the British Academy and the Academy of Social Sciences and, in 2014, he was appointed by Thomson Reuters as one of the “most influential scientific spirits in the world” of the 21st century for his writings being among the first social sciences of the 21st century. He is a member of the British Academy and in 2016 received the medal of the founder of the Royal Geographical Society. The other awards include the 2022 Vautrin Lud International prize for geography and distinguished honors of scholarships for 2017 of the American Association of Geographers. The ERSA price will be awarded to the closing session of the 64th ERSA congress in Athens, Greece, in August 2025.
