I will always remember the first time I entered Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium As a journalist.
Freshly out of the University of the Northeastern State University and working at the constitution of Lawton, I was certainly in a new environment at this lunch in the middle of the week at the start of the 2008 season.
Then, offensive line player or Phil LOADHOLT Between. Every 6 feet, 8 inches and 330 pounds.
NSU football players were not like this giant.
At 5 feet, 10 inches high and now also athletic, I suddenly only knew if I was there to ask him questions or serve as a midday snack.
But I shaken this crazy thought and I went to work. I was addicted.
I wanted to cover large sports. And in Oklahoma, where I lived all my life, it is university sports.
Or and Oklahoma State, to be specific.
I have spent the next 11 years working to go to a university press box.
High school sports. Baseball of minor leagues. Boxing. Automatic racing. Even some university sports. I covered everything to the Constitution and started in 2011 as the Oklahoman editor.
As much as I liked that, I always wanted more.
Finally, in 2019, I made the jump, taking over as one of the OSU writers of Oklahoman.
Working alongside Scott Wright, I was living a dream.
I helped deliver the best narration of the state to the stars of the OSU as Cade CunninghamChuba Hubbard, Ollie Gordon II, Malcolm Rodriguez, Roc Riggio, The Boone Twins and more. I won an APES price for my In -depth story on Jim Knowles.
I was on the return from the Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame. I was there for the last Bedlam football match, making my way around a Turf Boone Pickens Stadium filled with fans after Osu’s victory. I covered difficult news during the COVVI-19 pandemic and the ban on basketball playoffs.
Every moment was up to my expectations, then some.
And I did it with the best possible university sports cover team
This is why now as Oklahoman’s assistant sports editorI think there is no better place to find the news on or and OSU.
It is time to get to know our team, whose rules you will see throughout our cover of the Sooners And Cowboys.
