January 31 is my last day as THE Qcity Metro editor, and I could not be more excited by the next one.

I will play the role of the lifestyle publisher and deepen our coverage of stories centered on people.

As a former social worker, people have motivated my work for a better part of the decade. Since he joined Qcity Metro as a publisher in 2022, I focused on the support of our team to all beats. I helped manage our news and our lifestyle cover, and it was difficult in all the best ways.

From health to restaurant criticism and everything else, I saw the power of narration in Charlotte and how our readers connect with the problems we report.

But over and over again, it was the stories centered on people who have stuck the most.

It was a question of writing on the love of a mother when her son announced that he was giving up university to pursue music, speaking with black entrepreneurs, learning the key to a 70 -year -old wedding – Stories like that – which looked like what we should cover more. I wanted to find ways to do more.

Our publisher, Glenn Burkins, had long wanted Qcity Metro to increase our cover of what it is to live in Charlotte thanks to a strong narration and centered on people, and I am delighted to announce that he Given the opportunity to focus on this effort – something I asked in the last six months.

From February 1, I will become the lifestyle editor of Qcity Metro. In this role, I will manage our lifestyle cover, including things to do, restaurants, entertainment and the scope of life in Charlotte, as well as powerful stories about people who should be told.

But I need your help.

I am looking for interesting and totally unique stories or that reflect what it is really like living in Charlotte.

Here are some past examples:

Some immediate questions I would like to answer are: (1) How expensive? What does a person’s budget and daily life really look like? (2) How do people find friends in Charlotte? How is it for newcomers? (3) What is the population of black immigrants from Charlotte to Charlotte to? (4) What maintains an entrepreneur in today’s social / political climate? (5) Where do old people socialize and integrate in Charlotte as she grows? (6) Do the longtime charlottes plan to go out to the pace that the new people move here? (7) What is a day like Charlotte for different people a day like?

I have a lot of questions, and I would like to talk to you if you can answer one of them. I would also like to hear your story, it’s interesting, unique and something we should tell.

Send me an email-or send me the most interesting people of Charlotte-at any time: madeline@qcityymetro.com
