There are a lot of great atmospheres in sport. A complete arena of the high school can adapt right up there.
This may not make ears like the interior of Ford Field or the Comeri Park, but the sports of the school can immediately stay with you.
This is one thing I learned in my first 18 months on the Detroit Free Press Sports Desk. Inasmuch as public championship – General display and trendy writer – I experienced a lot between helping with professional, collegial and secondary sports coverage.
Like when Howell overturned Belleville. During the last week of the regular football season at high school. The whole city presented itself for the force of unbeaten teams, and saw the Highlanders break Bryce Underwood and the sequence of victories of the regular season of its tigers on a hit of the last second. The crowd of Howell took the ground by storm because everyone knew that the team had managed an instant classic.
Or the intensity that looked into the air when the rebirth of Detroit welcomed UD Jesuits in a back and forth battle during the basketball playoffs in front of a closed window gym. Breslin’s central scene when East Lansing finished its race for the state championship of division 1 It was quite remarkable too.
These moments stick to my head, just like the crowds of the lions’ house and the heroism of the tigers throughout 2024.
I am delighted to be able to write on more of these moments all the time. I go from my role as a public field player to a full -time accent high school sports To amplify these moments every week and share the stories of athletes in southeast Michigan and the State.
I am ready to dive into stories about the promising generation of athletes in Michigan through sports under the MHSAA umbrella, and to show what they mean for their respective teams and communities through traits, analyzes and stories of projectors. The players and their impact are at the center of the high school sports coverage, and as a native of Michigan, I know the passion for secondary sports here.
There are big shoes to fill on pace as a first full -time sports writer in nine years. Mick McCabe Provided the best coverage throughout the state for twice as long as I am alive. Fortunately, I will always work alongside him and take into account his advice as he continues his awarded columns as a freelance.
I am ready to start and extend the free sports coverage of the school in the months and years to come. And I am delighted to share more of these moments through the spectrum of secondary sports and tell the stories of those who create them alongside my colleagues.
If there are stories on an athlete or a team from your community or a question in a ranking, my e-mail (listed below) is still open. Statistics and scores are also welcome.
