In the midst of a police investigation into spending, a forensic audit at the Richmond City Hall has been extended to examine the last decade.
This decision occurred at a meeting of the General Committee of the City of Richmond Tuesday afternoon, during which Councilor Kash took into account a motion calling for examination to return to 2015.

It was approved unanimously, with advisor Bill McNulty commenting: “It is in everyone’s head in the city, it doesn’t matter if you go to McDonald’s or if you are shopping.”
Following an investigation into the one-month-old global news, the city admitted that it has been able to reconcile $ 295,000 in restaurant gift cards purchased in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

An employee was dismissed. The emails of this person were contained in the results of the Global News freedom of information.
Among the emails raising questions, which indicated: “We have to order more … We need 75 ASAP barrels. $ 50 of value, more bonuses. We also need 50 white points as soon as possible $ 50 of value, bonuses at the top. ”
Another email said, “We have a somewhat urgent order for the GCs. I would like to have them by the end of the day.
Also among emails, “I know we have just ordered, but I think we need a different name of WS cards. Can you order $ 60x 100 cards excluding bonuses. Optically, I think it looks better if each restaurant card is in the same amount.”
And, there was this: “Here is my state of account 2023, you can see the values already spent this year. Depending on the amounts already passed to the various suppliers, do you want to send me a revised gift card request? ”
When he was asked how much could be brought to count for more than a decade, and if it could reach a million dollars, he responded to a possibility: “This is a possibility.”
“I do not assign anything at this particular moment, given the fact of what came in the foreground,” he added.
The scandal prompted four municipal councilors in the region to renew calls for the province to restore the municipal auditor of British Columbia. They also launched a change.org petition.
“This petition today ultimately gives the public the opportunity to actually participate and make his voice heard,” said New Westminster advisor Daniel Fontaine.
While the investigation continues, it remains indeterminate if others could be dismissed or if there could be criminal charges.
