Autopsy of the body of a woman who died in hospital after being found on the Nose Creek Tracing early Monday morning could not determine his cause of death, Calgary police said in an update Thursday.
Officers responded to the area near 11th Street and 32nd Avenue NE around 4 a.m. on Dec. 9 after a woman was found in medical distress.
She was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and died from her injuries a few days later.
On Tuesday, police said she appeared to have been the victim of an assault.
Police released a photo of her, taken from a home security camera, in the hope that someone might have information about her whereabouts in the hours or days before she was found.
After her death, the woman was identified as Jelisa Maschki, 23, of Calgary.

An autopsy was performed Thursday morning, but the medical examiner could not immediately determine how Maschki died, police said.
Asked about the nature of his injuries, Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson, of the CPS homicide unit, said: “The injuries are isolated to a single injury, which has us scratching our heads. »
Gregson described them as “significant enough that they caused his death, but there are no multiple injuries that would lead us to determine that a serious assault took place, so that’s one of the parties strange things about this investigation. »
Police say there is no indication Maschki was the victim of a targeted attack.
When asked if there was any reason for others who live in the area or use the trail to be concerned about their safety, Gregson said, “There are still too many questions that we don’t can’t answer, which makes it difficult to answer this question. »
“We know she left her house around 7 p.m. the night before, so that’s the big question we have,” Gregson said.
“What was she doing at that time, from the time she left until the time she was discovered? She was long gone, so she could have come or gone anywhere.
Police say Maschki was alone when she left her home the night before she was found.
“We spoke with people she lived with, but she didn’t leave with anyone that night,” Gregson added.
“I think it’s very important that we determine anyone she may have been with Sunday night, into Monday morning. These are the people we would like to speak with. There is the unknown; with whom she was associated we do not know, or with friends of hers who could perhaps fill in some of the gaps.
“We’re not ruling anything out at this point.”
Police continue to ask anyone who saw suspicious activity along the Nose Creek Trail early in the morning of Monday, December 9, or anyone who had recent contact with the victim, to call them at 403-266-1234.
