Magrathea, based in the United States, launches new generation magnesium production technology, advances plans to evolve
Important step to create an evolutionary technical model and obtain data to deploy commercially technology to support the manufacture of almost all key defense platforms in America
Implement technical initiatives to further improve the costs and environmental efficiency of proven technology
Technology allows American companies to guarantee a reliable critical mineral offer to counter policies and export controls
Magrathe (“Magrathea” or “Company”), a technological company that produces magnesium metal from sea water, today announced the launch of its new generation magnesium chloride electrolyzer, a machine that uses electricity to divide magnesium salts to make magnesium metal, in its pilot installation in Oakland, California. This step is a crucial step to advance the technical and data frame for a future plant on a scale. In addition, the project strategically positions Magrathea technology to provide American companies with access to critical mineral supply chains based in the United States as part of commercial policies and export controls.

Magnesium Metal does with Magrathea technology
“Magnesium is one of the most important critical materials, but NATO countries are faced with a disastrous non -Chinese supply shortage,” said Alex Grant, CEO of Magrathea. “Western nations must consider this supply crisis as a national security emergency.”
“To our heart, Magrathea’s innovative technology revitalizes a proven process with our own turn for a considerable improvement in efficiency and a reduction in expenditure,” said Grant. “We expect to reduce the operating expenses of technology to make it expensive with alternative production methods that exist today, including in China. Magrathea is in conversations with several industrial defense players, chemicals and major mining to form a strategic partnership to increase our technology as the first magnesium electrolyzer on a commercial scale in the United States over the past 50 years. ”
In the coming months, Magrathea will use data collected from electrolyzer on a pilot scale to create an evolving technical model aimed at making the greatest efficiency from the environmental and economic point of view. The company will focus on obtaining processes, minimizing total electricity consumption, recycling of energy in a strategic way and optimization of the dehydration process, which offers the greatest opportunity to reduce costs of the electrolytic production of metal magnesium. These technical efforts should considerably reduce the carbon footprint and operating expenses for future commercial factories. Key processing data and learning should also help rationalize authorization processes for future facilities given the environmental benefits inherent in technology.
Magrathea and Magnesium protruding
- The “Gateway Metal”: Magnesium unlocks a wide range of applications, such as stiffening aluminum in alloys, steel manufacturing, nuclear entrances, automobile, aerospace and new generation defense applications.
- Resolve a national security emergency: Russia and China are currently controlling 90% of the world’s supply of primary magnesium without significant producer in any NATO country.
- First advantage of mover: Magrathea is the new most advanced producer of metal magnesium with significant intellectual property, including patents and commercial secrets.
- Existing operations: The Magrathea operational pilot factory in California can produce 4,000 pounds of magnesium per year with full capacity.
- Low operational expenditure: Magrathea’s technology demonstrates competitive operating costs, taking advantage of seawater and renewable energies that are abundantly available as raw material.
- Carbon neutral: The technology produces 0 kg of CO2 magnesium EQ./KG compared to more than 40 kg of CO2 magnesium EQ./KG with the Chinese process in place, which should further rationalize the authorization processes for future installations on the scale.
- Evolving to meet demand: Magrathea – In partnership with a strategic partner – plans to deploy its technology in a scale installation by 2027 to produce up to 2 million pounds of magnesium per year, enough to support the equivalent production of thousands of Black Hawk helicopters per year.
- Important commercial traction: Magrathea has signed agreements with more than 25 companies, including 10 connected to the American defense industry, a leave agreement with a world car manufacturer and a resource supply agreement with Cargill.
- Additional market opportunities: In addition to magnesium, Magrathea produces chloride co -products, which have a wide range of final markets such as Bleach, to unlock more value and improve the project economy.
- Solite Engineering Partnership: Magrathea collaborates with Sedgman Novopro, an engineering company specializing in mining and mineral treatment, to support its engineering and scaling design program.
- Supported by marked investors: Technology is supported by credible investors, including the American Department of Defense, Capricorn, Volo Earth, Exor Ventures, Sam Altman and the leaders of Glencore, Mitra Chem, Tesla and many others.
About Magrathea
Magrathea is a technological company based in California which has developed a process of manufacturing magnesium metal from sea water and brine to help the west to solve its magnesium shortage. Magnesium is essential for a wide range of applications such as aluminum stiffening in alloys, steel manufacturing, inputs for nuclear applications, automobile, aerospace and new generation defense applications. Company technology should be the largest main production solution in NATO countries by 2030. For more information, please visit https://www.magratheametals.com/.
