BELLINGHAM, Washington (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Winter weather continues in Whatcom County with wind and rain in the lowlands and epic snowfall in the North Cascades. This is good news for skiers and snowboarders, but also for those looking to do something comfortable.

THE Mount Baker Ski Area is hit by snow and that shouldn’t change much this weekend. Powder seekers and lovers of winter wonders in the mountains an hour east of Bellingham will undoubtedly wake up early and head to the slopes. Baker currently has a base of 88 inches at Heather Meadows with a whopping 108 inches at the top of Pan Dome. These are the conditions we dream of all year, so head east and enjoy them.

If you are going to the mountains and need to rent equipment, several options are available to you. Mount Baker Ski Area rents all the equipment you need, but you can also rent it right here in Bellingham. Backcountry Essentials And Yeager Sporting Goods have everything you need to enjoy a day in the mountains. You can also go through the Glaciers ski store going up.

If a fun day in downtown Bellingham sounds more like your cup of tea, head to the Mount Baker Theater for a little magic. Walton Magic takes place on Saturday, December 28 at 1 and 4 p.m. and Sunday, December 29 at 1 p.m. It’s world-class magic in the more intimate confines of the Harold and Irene Walton Theatre.

Tickets are available for adults and children with floor seating for children right in front of the stage. Go to mountbakertheatre.com for all the details and to purchase tickets.

Are you smart? Did you receive wool, colored pencils or a paintbrush for Christmas? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you don’t want to miss Community Craft Day at Downtime Taps in Ferndale. The Ferndale Arts Commission is hosting a fun and creative afternoon of community crafts from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Relax with other crafters and paint, draw, knit, crochet, or do whatever craft activity you prefer in a fun place with tasty food and drinks.

Our live show this week takes place at Wild Buffalo in downtown Bellingham. This one is for dancers, ravers and anyone who wants to put on their dancing shoes for the night.

The Polish ambassador is coming to town with his EDM brand. The Polish Ambassador is one of the country’s leading electronic crossover artists with millions of listeners worldwide. The openers are Akal Dub and Random Rab.
