Letter: Petition would harm the rural lifestyle of Oregon

Petition initiative 28, people for the elimination of exemptions from cruelty to animals, “The Peace Act”, is anything but Pacific. It is an incarnation of the vegan lifestyle of urban portland which does not respect, not coexisting, but rather running the rural lifestyle of Oregon.
He criminalizes all hunting, fishing and the slaughter of animals, including in commercial enterprises. It criminalizes most reproduction practices, mooring horses and the drainage of cattle. He even criminalizes the injury of vermin like mice and rats. He would destroy the Rodeos and the Ranchs of Oregon. It tears the very fabric of generational life in rural Oregon.
We cannot afford to passively hope that this initiative fails. They have already transformed 50,000 signatures to the 117,000 verified signatures necessary in July 2026 for the ballot of November 2026. We hoped and believed that measure 114 was too unrealistic to pass, and yet it did. Hoping will not cut it.
Please unite with us in an opposition group with a plan to beat this. Please join us on Facebook by joining the group “Oregonians Against the Peace Act”. Tell your stories with photos to celebrate the freedoms we appreciate. Invite your Facebook friends to similar views to the group. Look at the plan of our opposition. Please help us fight this initiative.
