Lara Spencer reveals painful update on her health after double surgery

Lara Spencer is on the mend!

The “Good Morning America” co-anchor, 55, revealed why she was absent from the program this week — and it has to do with a painful health battle.

Spencer took to social media on Wednesday, December 11, and got real with her followers. Assignment a photo Showing off both of her bandaged feet, the beloved TV host announced that she had undergone double surgery.

“If I look a little groggy it’s thanks to this guy who just got me a new pair of boots (image 2 – I wish they were cowboy boots but that will happen in (about 6 weeks I hope),” she captioned the photo. the photoswhich included another of Spencer smiling with his surgeon.

She explained that one surgery was to reverse a surgery she had previously had, while the other was to repair an old injury from college.

“My right foot was easy – just had the plate removed from surgery last year,” Spencer wrote. “The left is a bigger problem because of a very old college diving injury. I was doing a reverse and a half and hit the board, breaking my toes and joints.

The morning show veteran continued, “At the time they said there was nothing to do except record him and let him heal and live with the pain,” before singing the praises of his doctor and make a joke.

“Today, there are much better options, thanks to surgeons like Dr. Marty O’Malley at HSS,” she added. “These boots were made for walking……”

Several of Spencer’s colleagues wished him a speedy recovery.

“Wow! Well, there’s no doubt you’ll be twirling in no time!” commented Deborah Roberts, co-anchor of ABC News’ 20/20.

“Jesus!!! Who does both feet at the same time???? My girl, who is that! So hard! Sending you love for a speedy recovery! We have to dance,” the former chef wrote medical officer of “GMA”, Dr. Jennifer Ashton.

In 2023, Spencer underwent foot surgery for a torn plantar plate and ligament.

“Honey!! Feel better soon,” added Rebecca Jarvis, the show’s chief business, economics and technology correspondent.

In 2023, Spencer shared that O’Malley had surgery on his foot for a torn plantar plate and ligament that was “slowly getting worse.”

It is unclear when she will return to “GMA.”
