Three members of the same family were confirmed as victims of the Lapu Day Festival Tragedy in Vancouver.
Richard Le, 47, Linh Hoang, 30 and Katie Le, five, were killed when a SUV entered a crowd of people from the festival organized to celebrate the Culture and the Philippin community.
Andy is the only survivor in the family when the 16 -year -old decided to stay at home to finish his homework instead of attending the festival, according to a Gofundme verified for the family.
“Richard was a devoted father, a badminton and a tennis coach, and a real estate professional,” said fundraising.
“He devoted his life to teaching young people the values of the sporting spirit and the team spirit. He served his community and his customers with pride and has always done everything possible to help others.
“Richard’s wife and Andy’s stepmother, Linh, was known for her kindness and sweet mind. She had planned a visit to see her family in Vietnam. Katie, one of the youngest victims, was about to obtain his kindergarten diploma. She was vibrant, joyful and full of life. ”

The extended family currently supports Andy.

“Nothing can really relieve the sorrow and the trauma that Andy is currently confronted, and the objective of this GoFundme campaign is to collect funds to cover funeral costs for Richard, Linh and Katie and provide Andy for financial support for his future college studies,” said fundraising.
“The horrible nature of this crime against the family and the other victims recalls painful that, as a society, we must do better. We hope you cherish your loved ones every day, because Andy and many others no longer have this chance. ”
The family of the Le Est is three of the 11 victims of the tragedy that occurred just after 8 p.m. on Saturday.
A New Westminster Teacher-Cousellor, Kira Salimhas been identified as another victim.
Kai-ji Adam Lo, 30, was accused of eight second degree murder leaders.
He remains in detention, pending a hearing date. He was placed in police custody shortly after the incident.
