Three months after his beginnings at the Sundance Film Festival, “Kiss of the Spider Woman” is finally approaching a distribution agreement. The attractions on the roadside, Lionsgate and LD Entertainment are in the final talks to take the interior rights on the adaptation by the director Bill Condon of the musical of the same name, ensuring that the drama with Jennifer Lopez will see the Light of Day, a person with knowledge declared in Thewrap.
The terms of the agreement, including release plans and financial figures, have not been disclosed.
The film produced by artists’ actions entered Sundance while one of the more buzzing titles of the festival because of its casting and its pedigree – Condon was behind acclaimed titles like “Chicago” and “Gods and Monsters” – but it attracted mixed criticisms during its first and major buyers like Netflix.
The film, written and directed by Condon, closely follows the story of the musical of the scene as it tells the relationship between the queer hairdresser Luis (Tonatiuh) and a Marxist named Valentin (Diego Luna) imprisoned in Argentina during Dirty War of 1981. To pass the time, Luis tells the story of the film “Kiss of the Spider Woman” Sprinkled throughout Lopez fulfills the main role in the film in the film.
“Kiss of the Spider Woman” is not the only film to get a late Spendnce record for this year. The well -revised comedy of Molly Gordon “Oh Hi” went to Sony Pictures Classics Earlier this month.
Roadside recently released “The Last Showgirl” and will then open Nicolas Cage’s film “The Surfer” in May.
