Kia recalls more than 80,000 vehicles due to the ground wiring under the front passenger seat which can be damaged and prevent airbags and safety belts from deploying properly.

The damaged wiring can also cause a deployment of inflatable cushion from the unexpected side curtains. The recall covers 80 255 2023-2025 Niro EV, Hybrid Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and hybrid vehicles.
To remedy the situation, the dealers will inspect, replace and restart the wiring set on the ground, if necessary, free of charge. In addition, dealers will install wiring covers.
The owners will be informed by letters posted in March.
