New Kensington, Pennsylvania – Eleven Radiological Sciences from Penn State New Kensington attended the spring conference and the state of the Pennsylvania Society of Radiologic Technologists (PSRT) at the Blair County Convention Center.
The group, made up of eight second year students and first three years, was led by Mary Ann McKeague, lecturer in radiological sciences and clinical coordinator of the program, and Marcia Curler, professor of assistant educational and program director.
“Our students proudly and professionally represented Penn State New Kensington,” said Curler. “The 11 students attended conferences, in network and participated in various student competitions.”
Among the highlights of the weekend, there was Techni-Bowl, an academic competition at a quick rhythm featuring 30 questions aligned on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification exam. The Certification CT recognizes people who have respected rigorous professional standards to play in specialized roles in medical imaging, radiotherapy or interventional procedures.
Twelve teams of seven institutions through the State participated in the technician. Penn State New Kensington aligned two teams. The second place team included Britta Lindgren and Samantha Wise. This marks the second consecutive year that the campus placed in the first three, after a first place last year.
