(Ktla) – Former vice -president Kamala Harris I would take advantage of a large lead about the rest of the field if it were to enter the race race in 2026 for the Governor of California, according to an inside California Politics / Emerson College survey published Thursday.
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was carried out from April 12 to 14 and included 18 hypothetical candidates for the primary of June 2026.
The survey revealed that 31% of those who plan to vote would support Harris if it were to participate in the race. Democratic colleague Katie Porter follows with 8%, while 4% support the riverside County sheriff, Chad Bianco, a republican.
“The competitiveness of the governor’s primary in 2026 in California depends on the question of knowing if Harris takes place. Other applications, such as Katie Porter’s, depend on whether the former vice-president is entering the race,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of the Emerson College survey. “Harris collects 49% of Democrats, while Porter obtains 13%. Without Harris in the race, the support of carrying among the Democrats increases to 21%, which would make her a first favorite in a crowded field. “
The survey subjects, however, were divided on the question of whether Harris was to run. Fifty percent said that the former California attorney and American senator is expected to participate in the race, and 50% said she shouldn’t.
The survey also asked voters to weigh on several other subjects, including the political future of Governor Gavin Newsom, the price of President Donald Trump and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Fifty-nine percent of those questioned said that Newsom should not present themselves to the presidency in 2028, while 41% thought. When they are ventilated by affiliation of parties, 61% of registered democrats thought that Newsom should arise, while 78% of Republicans and 75% of the self -employed said that it should not.
California voters generally considered the President’s prices as a consumer tax on a tax on business partners, from 60% to 22%, according to the survey. Eighteen percent considered it neither.
Again, the party affiliation moved the figures.
“The majority of Democrats, 77% and half of the independent voters consider prices as more a tax on the consumer, while 48% of republican voters consider them more a tax on the foreign country,” added Kimball.
Regarding the summer games of 2028 LA, 32% are very interested in games, 44% are somewhat interested and 24% are not at all interested, according to the survey.
A majority of voters from California, or 58%, would like to see the Olympic Games in person if they could afford, while 42% would not, indicates the survey.
