7-member Kickflip will make its official debut on January 20
K-pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment has revealed the members of its first boy group in nearly seven years, Kickflip, confirming January 20 as the group’s official debut date.
On Monday, the agency announced its debut on Kickflip’s official social media channels, posting profile images of the seven members – Kyehoon, Amaru, Donghwa, Juwang, Minje, Keiju and Donghyun – as well as a promotional schedule. The group’s first mini-album “Flip it, Kick it!” will be released on January 20.
JYP also premiered the music video for B-side track “Umm Great.” The track features empowering lyrics about confidently pushing aside unwanted advice and remaining determined to follow your own path.
Ahead of its debut, Kickflip plans to release a variety of teaser content: a choreography practice video on Tuesday, intro films on Wednesday and Thursday, concept photos on Friday through January 14, a tracklist poster, and a track video on January 15. and music video teasers on January 16 and 17.
The group’s name is derived from a skateboard trick where the skateboard rotates 360 degrees using the rider’s toes. It symbolizes the group’s ambition to break boundaries and forge its own path.
The first promotions were scheduled to begin on New Year’s Day, but were delayed following the tragic Jeju Air plane crash on December 29 and the subsequent period of national mourning.
