Providing open, sensory-friendly, dementia-friendly captions, breakfast and a movie, and more

Community News

Join Emagine Entertainment this January as they host a variety of specialty screenings for their guests. Each month, guests can watch some of the latest movie releases with an enhanced experience. Open Caption screenings offer subtitles for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Sensory screenings allow you to change the atmosphere of the theater without changing the film for those with sensory issues. Dementia Friendly screenings feature an exclusive selection of classic films and musicals and encourage audience participation while providing guests with special door-to-door service. Breakfast and a Movie and Lunch and a Movie allow guests to enjoy a full meal and discounts while watching their movie.

FILM SCREENINGS WITH OPEN SUBTITLES

Select Emagine locations will host Open Caption screenings of some of the latest film releases on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons throughout the month. Guests who are deaf or hard of hearing will be able to enjoy the cinematic experience with audio subtitles displayed on the big screen for all to see.

All subtitled films are broadcast in 2D.*Note: No edits were made to the film.

SCREENINGS OF SENSORY FILMS

Some Emagine locations will host a unique, sensory screening twice a month, with specific modifications made to ensure an enjoyable experience for people with sensory needs and their companions. Their sensory-friendly programming makes going to the cinema a more enjoyable experience for families, children and teenagers with sensory needs. All sensory films will be projected in 2D.*Note that no changes have been made to the film.

What does Sensory Friendly mean?

First, it means a friendly sensory experience (lights up a little, sounds a little). Second, if your child needs to get up, move, dance, sing… No problem. Third, guests are asked to bring a safe snack in case of a food allergy or food avoidance/restriction.

Emagine works with local organizations to offer customers a special door-to-door experience guided by a team of dementia-friendly ‘Purple Angels’. These staff and volunteers serve as guides to guests from the moment they arrive until they leave.
