(CNN) – John Brenkus, the founder and host of the program winner of an Emmy “Sports Science” on ESPN, died. He was 54 years old.
According to A declaration on his social media accountBrenkus died after fighting with depression on May 31.
The declaration indicates: “His family and his friends at the broken heart are wondering about confidentiality at the moment and encourage anyone who struck with depression to ask for help.”
“Sports Science” was released for the first time in 2007 on Fox Sports before moving to ESPN. The show won six Emmy Awards.
In tribute to Brenkus on ESPN, Brenkus was described as an “innovator, an artist and an educator”.
