Ivanka Trump has admitted she “hates” the “darkness” of politics and revealed how she plans to support her father in his second term.
The president-elect’s eldest daughter spoke for nearly two hours with The skinny confidential podcast. In an episode that aired Monday, she divulged her thoughts on politics and how she plans to be there for the president-elect. Donald Trumpwho will be inaugurated a second time on January 20.
Ivanka served as an advisor to her father during his first term, but revealed she “hated” politics.
“I like politics and impact. I hate politics and unfortunately the two are not separable,” she said. “There is a darkness in this world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine.”
She called politics a “dark, negative business.”
The 43-year-old said she will be in Florida while her father takes over the White House, but she has a plan to support him.
“It’s the loneliest position in the world,” she said of the presidency. “The enormity of the decisions you make on a daily basis, the whole transactional world is with you… it’s a very lonely perch.”
After stepping away from the White House and politics, Ivanka said she was most looking forward to showing up for Donald as his daughter “to take his mind off things, watch a movie with him or watch a sports game , knowing that he can be with me, be himself and just relax.
During Trump’s first term, Ivanka said her “role” was “very different.”
“We were like the Pioneers. No one really knew what to make of him as a political figure. Now there are so many people around,” she said. “I’m thinking right now about how I can also support him because I know what the job is, in a very personal way, after being by his side for four years.”
There seems to be an air of excitement across the country following the death of his father. re-election victory, she said.
Trump made history in November by become the second president in United States history to be elected to non-consecutive terms.
“I think these four years have really allowed him to calibrate how he wants to spend these next four years,” she said. “I think it’s going to be a great four years.”
