Psychiatry and Society
The episode of this week of “Psychiatry & Society” comes live from the annual meeting of the 2025 American Psychiatric Association (APA)! H. Steven Moffic, MD and colleagues
“I think this is one of the most important, and even historical annual psychiatric assemblies,” said Moffic.
For what? There are 2 important distinctions for this year’s annual meeting: (1) The theme is lifestyle psychiatry, which Moffic considers relevant for psychiatrists as much as patients because of the professional exhaustion of doctors, and (2) a public gathering of psychiatrists took place to protest on the current state of polycia, with influence factors, and more. About 50 to 100 psychiatrists gathered with panels to express their feelings.
“There has been a lot of psychiatric activism in the past, but nothing collective I have known like that,” said Moffic.
