“Insecurity” star Issa Rae has canceled an event planned previously to be held at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Follow news that the president Donald Trump was elected new president of the center.
In a statement published Thursday on his Instagram history, Rae thanked his supporters for having “sold” his event “an evening with Issa Rae”.
“Unfortunately, because of what I believe to be a violation of the values of an institution which has faithfully celebrated artists from all walks of life through all the mediums, I decided to cancel my appearance on this place,” wrote Rae.
Rae added that all tickets will be reimbursed.

Trump’s push puts the Washington -based show of the show, DC in the midst of cultural wars. While announcing his takeover scheduled for last week, he called the center programming.
“Last year, the Kennedy Center presented dredging shows specifically targeting our young people – that will stop,” Trump said on Truth Social on February 7. “The Kennedy Center is an American jewel and must reflect the brightest stars of its scene of all through our country. For the Kennedy Center, the best is to come!”

Rae’s decision comes after several other public figures in Hollywood resigned from their management positions within the organization after the center confirmed That Trump was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors to a statement on Wednesday.
A representative of Shonda Rhimes told CNN on Thursday that producer “Gray’s Anatomy” had “resigned from the Kennedy Center board of directors”.
Rhimes recognized her resignation on her Instagram page Wednesday with a title post reflecting the news, in addition to a quote from former American president John F. Kennedy in legend: “If art must feed the roots of our culture, society must free the artist to follow Her vision wherever she is takes it.
The musician Ben Folds, who was the artistic advisor of the National Symphony Orchestra, also announced on Wednesday that “developments at the Kennedy Center”, he resigned from his post.
“Not for me”, he wrote on social networks. “It was a wonderful 8 years of work with the president of Kennedy Center, Deb Rutter, the artistic advisor Renee Fleming and all ONS staff, encouraging thousands of new fresh audiences to appreciate symphonic music.”
Folds added that he “will miss the musicians of the symphony orchestra of our nation – just the best!”
The Kennedy Center also recently announced its new members of the Board of Directors, which includes several new names Trump after the withdrawal of the administrators who had been appointed by Democratic presidents.
