Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip (AP)-Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip killed at least 32 people, including more than a dozen women and children, local health officials said on Sunday, such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went to the United States to meet President Donald Trump about the war.
Last month, Israel put an end to its ceasefire with Hamas and renewed its air and soil offensive, performing waves of strikes and entering the territory to put pressure on the militant group to accept a new agreement for a truce and the release of the remaining hostages. He also blocked the importation of food, fuel and humanitarian aid for more than a month to coastal territory which depends strongly on external assistance.
“Actions are becoming weak and the situation becomes desperate,” said the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees on social networks.
The latest Israeli strikes during the night after Sunday hit a tent and a house in the southern city of Khan Younis, killing five men, five women and five, according to Nasser Hospital, which received the bodies.
A journalist was one of the people killed. “My daughter is innocent. She had no involvement, she loved journalism and adored her,” said her mother, Amal Kaskeen.
The body of a child, under 2 years old, has only taken an end from an emergency stretcher.
“Trump wants to end the Gaza problem. He is in a hurry, and that’s clear this morning,” said Mohammad Abdel-Hadi, a woman’s cousin.
Israeli bombings killed at least four people in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. The bodies of seven people, including a child and three women, arrived at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir Al-Balah in the center of Gaza, according to a journalist from Associated Press.
And a strike in Gaza City struck people who were waiting outside a bakery and killed at least six, including three children, according to the Civil Defense, which operates under the government managed by Hamas.
Netanyahu visits Trump in the midst of anti-war demonstrations
Dozens of Palestinians went down to the rue de Jabaliya for a new series of anti-war demonstrations. Images circulating on social networks have shown that people walking and singing against Hamas. Such demonstrations, although rare, have occurred in recent weeks.
There is also anger inside Israel about the resumption of war and its effects on the remaining hostages in Gaza. Hostage families as well as some of those who recently been released from Gaza and their supporters urged Trump on Saturday to ensure the end of the fighting.
Netanyahu will meet Trump on Monday for the second time since Trump began his last term in January. The Prime Minister said they would discuss the war and the new 17% tariff imposed in Israel, part of a radical global decision of the new American administration.
“There is a very large queue of leaders who want to do it with regard to their savings. I think that reflects the particular personal connection and the special bond between the United States and Israel, which is so vital at the moment,” Netanyahu said while ending a visit to Hungary.
The United States, a mediator in cease-fire efforts as well as Egypt and Qatar, expressed their support for the resumption of War last month.
War toll
Since then, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed, among the 15 doctors whose bodies were not recovered until a week later. The soldiers of Israel this weekend have behind his account of what happened in the incident, partly captured on video, which caused the anger of the Red Cross and those responsible for the Red Crescent and the UN.
The war began when activists led by Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages. Fifty-nine hostages are still detained in Gaza-24 which would take place alive-after most of the others have been released in ceasements or other transactions.
Israel’s offensive killed at least 50,695 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, who does not say how much civilians or combatants were, but said that more than half were women and children. He indicates that 115,338 people were injured. Israel says he killed around 20,000 activists, without providing evidence.
