For many students, studying abroad may seem out of reach due to financial constraints. However, with the right opportunities – such as scholarships – global education can become a reality.
Take, for example, Nicolas Hernandez, a major in international affairs of Fullerton Cal State with a concentration in world trade. Thanks to the Deloitte Foundation Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities Stock Exchange, Hernandez is currently studying at Skema Business School in Sophia Antipolis, in France.
Acquire international commercial experience
Choosing Skema Business School was a decision that was aligned with the academic and career objectives of Hernandez. The program has enabled it to take commercial courses that provide valuable information on the global economy and business practices.
“Since the start of my study experience abroad, I have been able to develop a more international state of mind by meeting students and teachers from around the world,” said Hernandez. “I take lessons in international marketing, logistics and trade, project management and organizational behavior.”
Beyond the classroom, Hernandez also had the opportunity to work on consultation projects for companies in the French Riviera, acquired first-hand experience in international commercial operations.
“Meeting professionals and learning more about the global trade environment, especially in Europe, will give me a nuanced and worldly perspective that helps me stand out in future careers,” said Hernandez.
Cultural immersion and representation
Studying abroad is not only academics. It is also exchange and cultural growth. As a Hispanic student student abroad, Hernandez is proud to represent the values of Hacu by sharing his experiences with peers from different horizons.
“During my stay abroad, I was able to connect with students from around the world. Many of them have never visited the United States, “he said. “As a recipient of Hacu scholarships, I had the opportunity to share what universities in the United States and the resources available for Hispanic students look like.”
His stay in France also exposed it to various cultures and commercial perspectives, strengthening the importance of intercultural communication in the workplace.
Advice for future students abroad
For students hesitating to study abroad, Hernandez shared that there are resources to help.
“Many students do not plan to study abroad due to factors such as cost or distance. However, studying abroad is achievable, regardless of your experience or experience. Start planning early and ask for scholarships as soon as possible, and that will facilitate any burden that you may face, “said Hernandez.
Its biggest point to remember for students: take a risk and do not doubt your abilities.
“My time studying abroad taught me more about myself than most past experiences. I encourage everyone to apply for scholarships and to be open -minded. Your effort and your state of mind will be the key to changing your future life and your career for the best. ”
