High Point, NC – High Point University always seeks to improve the mission of providing extraordinary education in an environment inspiring with caring people. With more than 750 athletes and around 30 teams in Intercollegate Club Sports, the commitment continues with the addition of the male and female struggle to the Intercollegate Club Sports (ICS) range.
While the popularity of the struggle develops at the national level at college and secondary levels, HPU recognizes the opportunity to provide students with a competitive and development platform. Joining the National Collegiate Wrestling Association, HPU joins schools from all over the country and will compete at regional and national level. The new wrestling programs will offer students the possibility of participating in high -level competition while adopting the values of the university.

Dr Stephen DennySaid the sports director of the Intercollegate Club (ICS) club at High Point University. “The fight is a fascinating sport that will reflect the competitive programs of the NCAA. I am delighted that our coach and our new athletes are the inaugural team of this program.”
The management of the new wrestling program is head coach Kelly Anundson. Anundson is champion of the state of Nevada, double college wrestler, national finisher of the NJCAA 4th place and NCAA finisher 7th place. Anundson also finished 4th in the National University Tournament (in all college divisions) which qualified it for the Olympic training of the American national team. Beyond his collegial career, he is an accomplished coach and former professional mixed artist. With years of experience in coaching at college and elite levels, including the American Top Team and Newberry College, Anundson has proven development of developing athletes and construction programs. As Brazilian world champion of Jiu-Jitsu and finalist of the Bellator MMA, he brings a wealth of competitive experience and leadership. His passion for the struggle and dedication to the development of athletes will be decisive in the construction of a strong culture of struggle at the High Point University.
