ST. Louis, Mo. – For the fifth time in the last six seasons, the state of Illinois has won the All-Sports championship of the Missouri Valley conference as announced by the conference office on Thursday. The Redbirds recently won the Ligue All-Sports championship in 2018-19, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2024-25 (the MVC did not awarded the trophy during the 2019-20 season). In particular, Illinois State won 17 All-Sports crowns and finished first, second or third at 31 of the last 34 years.
“We start each year in order to win the MVC All-Sports Championship, and after being short last year, I am proud to have obtained a place at the top of the ranking in 2024-25,” said the director of athletics at Illinois State Dr Jeri Beggs said. “To win the MVC All-Sports MVC trophy, the fifth time in six years is a huge success of our students athletes, coaches and members of the athletics staff. We hope that all our former students, supporters and fans are just as proud of this honor as we do.”
The state of Illinois had an overall score of 8.956 this year to take the Sports Crown and won the team titles of the regular MVC season this season in the men’s golf course and the women’s golf course. Male and female golf titles have marked the first time since 2019 that the male and female teams of the same school have won the title, and the first time that the ISU has done so since 2005. In total, the Redbirds recorded the first 5 finishes in 11 other sports sponsored by MVC, in particular the finishes of Forfing in Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Outdoor Tacking, the way of the athletics track for men.
Before the Crown All-Sports MVC de Drake in 2024, Illinois State, the Missouri State or Wichita State had won the League All-Sports Championship Trophy since 1995. The Illinois State won five of the six All-Sports championships from 1996 to 01 2016-17.
Eleven different institutions won at least one league title in the regular season or after the season last season. The Crown of the IUIC female team tennis tournament was its first as a member of the MVC. The state of the Missouri and the state of Murray equaled the best of the league with five titles in total, while the four titles of the state of Indiana were the next best in the valley, because the Sycamores claimed titles on athletics in male and female air, swimming and diving of women and the female inner domain.

* Combined regular season and tournament championships
The MVC first offered an All-Sports trophy after the 1949-50 athletics season, then the member of Oklahoma State (Oklahoma A&M at the time) won the first title of the League. The All-Sports trophy is based on the end of the school in each of the championships sponsored by the Missouri valley conference. The teams awarded 12 points for the first, 11 for the second, 10 for the third, etc., and the total of the points accumulated is divided by the number of sports in which a particular school is in competition. For sports not sponsored by each MVC school, the points decrease by the number of competing schools (that is to say in a sport where 10 teams compete, 12/10 = 1.20, therefore the total points decrease by 1.20; 1st = 12, 2nd = 10.8, 3rd = 9.6, etc.)
The terms of baseball, basketball, football, softball, tennis and volleyball are based on a regular season competition. However, the institutions receive three bonus points for each league championship after the season won in these aforementioned sports. All other sports are determined by the end of the championship tournament or the championship competition.
