Illinois (WGEM) – The Illinois Secondary School Association has responded to a request by legislators to comply with a decree by President Donald Trump to prohibit transgender athletes from participating in female sports.

Tully and Anderson urged state officials to work with the federal authorities to provide clear direction.

According to the IHSA, two organic boys participated in girls sports during the 2023-2024 school year. Three organic boys participated in sports for girls this school year, including tennis, athletics and football.
The officials said that the number of organic girls playing in boys sports prevails from afar on organic boys playing in the sports of girls. The authorities estimated that between 25 and 30 organic boys play in sports for girls.
According to the IHSA website, the organization decides whether a transgender student is authorized to play in opposite gender sports.
